Kids Music: Not Dorky Music

June 5, 2010 - 4:22 pm No Comments

I just found a “resolved answer” on Yahoo answers where a mom-to-be was asking if anyone knew where she could get some kids’ music that wasn’t dorky and annoying to adults.

Well…call me biased…but I say “right here on Ton-O-Fun Tunes.”  I’ve been selling kids music online for almost 10 years. And the most common comment I’ve enjoyed from the thousands of adults who’ve bought CD’s and downloads from me is something like…”the songs aren’t cutesy or singing “down” to their kids”.

Kids music just needs to be fun, imaginative, and whimsical…not necessarily sung by an adult trying to sound “cute”. That’s why my tunes for kids are about bugs, dinosaurs, rocket ships, alabaster butterflies, peppermint ponies, and so much more…in my own adult voice. So…an adult could listen to a song like “Fall Fast Asleep” from my Lullabye Bye compilation and drift off to Dreamtownjust as well as kids do. Don’t get me wrong…the wheels on the bus really do round and round. But adults can only listen to that so much before they feel like throwing themselves under those wheels.  ;-)

If you like my kids music, and if you get a chance…would you mind telling your friends with kids that you know a place where they can get kids music that ain’t dorky?

My dogs, Zazzo and Nestlé, will thank you for it because it’ll help us buy more peanut butter bisquits for ‘em.

Stay Tuned,

Kids Music Beats A Toy Ban Any Day

May 10, 2010 - 7:03 pm No Comments

Which Is Healthier…Fast Food? Or Dancing With Delight?

OK…I know it’s a trick question. If your kid is about to faint from hunger, of course “fast food” is healthier than dancing with delight. But still…dancing with delight can’t be too unhealthy…don’t you think?

Why do I bring this up? Well, you probably heard about the “board of supervisors” in Santa Clara, California who voted 3-2 to ban the toys in fast food meals which don’t comply with their fat and calorie standards. Yep, they actually made a “law” that says fast food restaurants who serve those kid meals with toys in the package have to watch the calorie and fat count or they can’t put toys in the box.

Don’t worry, though, because they were willing to admit that “Toys, in and of themselves, do not make children obese.” Now, that’s just good deductive logic.

Well, I have a solution for the fast food restaurants. Start including Ton-O-Fun Tunes in every happy-go-lucky kid’s meal. With our fun and even personalized kids music the kids will be dancing with delight and burn off any unwanted calories. Problem solved!

So Micky D…Colonel…Señor Bell…Miss Wendy…give me a call. I’m sure we can work something out. And if it saves even one kid from the fat farm…it’ll be worth it.

Stay tuned,

Kids Music Should Be Kid Friendly

April 27, 2010 - 11:23 pm No Comments

Because Kids Should Just Be Kids

I read about a study in the May issue of the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs that kids who watch R-rated movies are more likely to smoke, have sex earlier, and even experience “teen aggression”.

And my guess is…that ain’t all that’s likely to happen.

And another guess of mine is…I’ll bet when they listen to R-rated music similar results occur.

So, when people ask why I write the kind of kids music I write, I just have to smile and wonder why there would be any other kind. Kids should be allowed to be kids. Full of innocence, awe, and wonder. And the music they listen to should just be for fun. Not some excuse to teach them how to be intimate with the opposite sex, or even worse…how to beat up on or belittle others.

Sadly, so much music for mass consumption does just that.

Well, my kids music here at Ton-O-Fun Tunes doesn’t do that. Never has. Never will. I still believe in the ideal of a child’s imagination. I still cater to that. My music for kids will always seek to inspire, tickle the fancy, and spark the imagination of as many kids as possible. And I support any other singer/songwriters out there who will do the same.

Let’s show kids true love by giving them their youth without the adult themes or R-rated stuff even adults shouldn’t be consuming.

Stay tuned,

P.S. If you feel the same way…or even if you don’t, I’d love to read your comments. Feel free to leave them here…

…but keep ‘em G-rated.

Cleopatra’s Kids Music

Cleopatra…The Three Year Old Romanian “Fenomenon”

My friend, Cristina, who is from Romania filled me in on what the lyrics to Cleopatra Stratan‘s song, “Ghita” are all about. I’m told it’s not unusual for little kids to sing love songs like this in Romania. And Cristina says Cleopatra’s accent sounds Transylvanian. We usually don’t think of someone so cute from Transylvania.  ;-)

Anyway…here are the lyrics to the kids music you can hear on my previous post with the video…

*Cleopatra Stratan – Ghita (English Version)*

The coat is inside out,…
There is no sun above
Nothing is going good
Since I think of Ghita.
But Ghita’s not in town
I asked why he’s not around
It seems to me he’s gone
He’s gone abroad

Hard, I think it’s very hard
Want, I don’t know what I want
I know that you like me too
Ghita, what is up with you?
Young, come on in or go
Young, tell me yes or no
Ghita, please don´t anger me
Tell me how your life will be

Ghita,
Tonight I’m waiting for you at the wicket
At the wicket from the school yard
Come to,
But don’t come as you did before
As usually with empty hands…
Who else
Will wait for you as I do
Entire evening just waiting there
Ghita,
Show me a girl who’s found of you
That loves you as much as I do…

Romanian version

Hainita sta in cui
Afara soare nu-i
Nimic nu-i bun de cand
Ma gandesc la Ghita
Dar Ghita nu-i in sat
Eu m-am interesat
Imi pare ca-i plecat
Dupa granita…
Greu, tare mi-i de greu,
Vreau, da nu stiu ce vreau;
Stiu ca si tu ma placi
Spune, Ghita, ce tu taci?
Ori vina ori ti du
Ori spune da ori nu
Eu te rog nu ma-nerva
Ghita ce-i cu viata ta?

REF: Ghita, te-astept diseara la portita
Langa portita de la scoala
Vino da numa nu vini cum vii tu
De obicei cu mana goala
Cine te mai asteapta ca si mine
O seara intreaga numai pe tine.
Ghita, arata-mi tu o fata care
Sa te iubeasca asa de tare!

Ghita, te-astept diseara la portita
Langa portita de la scoala
Vino da numa nu vini cum vii tu
De obicei cu mana goala
Cine te mai asteapta ca si mine
O seara intreaga numai pe tine.
Ghita, arata-mi tu o fata care
Sa te iubeasca asa de tare!

Ghita, te-astept diseara la portita
Langa portita de la scoala
Vino da numa nu vini cum vii tu
De obicei cu mana goala
Cine te mai asteapta ca si mine
O seara intreaga numai pe tine.
Ghita, arata-mi tu o fata care
Sa te ïubeasca asa de tare!

Sa te iubeasca asa de tare!

Cleopatra Stratan – Ghita – Romanian Kid’s Music Video

Here’s a little 3 year old Romanian girl named Cleopatra singing a song called “Ghita”. I don’t have a clue what she’s singing about, but I got such a kick out of her sheer magnetism and ability I wanted to share it with you. I think you’re gonna love her. I’ll have to ask my Romanian friend, Cristina, what she’s singing about and update you later. Check it out…

My Ton-O-Fun Tunes Kids Music Will Be Downloadable Soon

People have been asking me for a long time if I’ll ever have my kids music available as a digital download.

Well, shazzam…it’s almost ready. I’ve created a digital version of three CD’s available as one convenient download. And I’m expecting the new product to be ready in the next week or so. You can read all about it on the new digital download page, HERE, but as of today it’s still in “test” mode. You can’t actually complete a credit card purchase of it online yet.

In this new digital version you’ll find tunes from “Kiddin’ Around”…”In This World”…and “Lullabye Bye”. I can’t include digital downloads of the personalized CD in this version because there are too many different names to make it feasible. However; I’m working on making each individual song for each personalized CD available. So keep your eyes and ears open for that. I may have my own iTunes style kids music page. Or it may even be on iTunes. Like I said…I’m working on it.

So…thanks for your support, and I hope you’re having a great time in preparation for Christmas and the New Year.

Kids Music Even Adults Like

Compliments Are Great Motivators

Over the past month or so I’ve received a bunch of very nice compliments about my kids music. And they’ve come from the adults. And they haven’t been telling me how much the kids love the songs. They’ve told me how much they actually enjoy the music. That’s really cool. My goal has always been to write kids music that isn’t obnoxious to adults. So, these comments have confirmed I’m on the right track.

Now…why is this a big deal?

I’m glad you asked.

I want to give my target market what they want. Every internet marketing guru will tell that’s the key to online success. More importantly it’s the way to keep my “peeps” happy and coming back to see what’s new.

And I’m still working on some new kids music. It’s a top secret project. Only those closest to me have any idea I’m working on it. Oops…I guess the cat’s out of the bag now, huh?!  Oh well, you still don’t know what the music’s about or what kind of tunes I’m writing. You’ll have to come back and visit regularly to find out.

In the meantime…here are the lyrics to another tune off the Lullabye Bye CD. It’s called “Now I Lay Me Down”.

Kids Music To Help Kids Rest Easy

September 7, 2009 - 5:56 pm No Comments

Rest Easy Dear Child

Kids Music Notes has been a bit on hiatus. I’ve been composing new kids music and I performed a few times, too.

But that’s no excuse to let things go. And last time I posted I said I’d be inserting the lyrics to the “Lullabye Bye” tunes. The first song was called “In Your Dreams”. You can find it in the post just prior to this one. So…next up I’ve got “Rest Easy”. Be sure to give ‘em a listen. You can do that by clicking here.

I’ll make this a short post and start gathering some info for you I think you’ll be very interested in.

Sharing Lyrics To The Lullabye Bye CD

I’ve had a lot of requests to share the lyrics to the new CD of lullabies. First, let me say…if you’ve bought the CD, you should have the lyrics included on the actual disk. Slip it into your computer (Mac or PC) and you’ll find a file called “lyrics book”. Once you open it, you’ll find the lyrics to all the tunes on the “Lullabye Bye” CD.

That being said…I’m still gonna post the lyrics here for anyone interested in what they would hear (and what their kids would hear) once they buy the CD. The first tune on the CD is called “In Your Dreams”.

It’s kind of a jazzy, somewhat upbeat tune, but it starts getting a little guy or girl in the mood for heading off to Dreamtown. You can hear a sample of “In Your Dreams” from the Lullabye Bye CD here.

And here are the lyrics:

Now That’s What I Call “Catchin’ Some ZZZZ’s”

Meggan Harper of MegganHarper.com has a very cool photo that “has been chosen as a finalist in Photographer’s Forum’s Annual Spring Photography Contest. It will be published in the hardcover book Best of Photography 2009!”

You can see much more of her great work on her website in a Flash slideshow. I’m adding the photo here on my Tunes For Kids blog, and I hope she won’t mind. I just think you’ll get a kick out of this cute little baby who’s oblivious to her new-found fame. Hey…nap time is essential…not fame.

If you have any cute baby photos or little kid photos you’d like to share and feature here on my website, you can Email Me Here. I’ll see what I can do. In the meantime, I need to get back to the task of writing some new tunes for kids.
